Attend a virtual learning session on the Métis Experience in Residential Schools Research Project
A 2012 report by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada identified that the Métis experience in Residential Schools has been largely overlooked, and that many stories remain untold. The Métis Experience in Residential Schools Research Project (MERSRP) seeks to help fill that gap through a process grounded in Métis ways of knowing and community engagement.
The project team is hosting an upcoming learning session to introduce the project and share ways to get involved. These sessions are open to all Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizens.
Learning sessions are currently scheduled for:
The Huron-Superior Métis Community (Region 4) - May 4th.
RSVP for the virtual presentation here: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/yxN71YpQTGi3BnFc1s388A
More sessions will be scheduled and announced on the project website at a later date.
Interviews will take place over the coming months with individuals who have lived or intergenerational knowledge of Métis experiences in Residential, Day, or Industrial Schools across Canada. Know History, a firm specializing in Indigenous and Indian Residential Schools Research and interviews, has been hired to support this work.
